Q: Where are all the women?
What a question!
If you “hang around” in developmental & transformational communities long enough, you’ll definitely hear people ask this question. They ask it because the very promising books, courses, podcasts and online meetings are usually overpopulated with (mostly white) men. This could be a problem. Maybe the men are not doing enough to make these spaces interesting and open for women? On the other hand, it might not be a problem. Maybe the women just have better things to do
But let’s zoom in on the structure of the question itself:
Where (a place)
are all (a multitude)
the women (the Other gender)
? (the open inquiry)
That’s a very YIN question. That query groups together many qualities that are classically associated with the Feminine. The Feminine, of course, is a way of metaphorically discussing an abstract essence distinct from female bodies or female social roles.
The “Goddess” includes places, worlds, pluralities & the night of questions. This distinguishes Her from the “God” of self, humanity, singularity & the day of answers.
The one who asks this question — where are all the women — is a Yang force trying to connect with Yin. It is looking around, reaching to the Other, considering the possibility of opening more deeply in relationship. Regardless of your physical and social anatomy, you take the “left brain” position that considers the ways in which the “right brain” eludes, obscures or encompasses anything and everything.
But is the right brain really feminine?
Is the left brain masculine?
How real are these ancient dualistic concepts? Should we discard them because of nonduality and the plural diversity of sexuality? Or is there a profound way to hold them more intelligently and cleanly in a metamodern/integrative sense?
And, more importantly, how do we use these metaphors in order to move ourselves toward the production of the Sacred? How does transcendental dualism help us to spiritualize our inner lives? How do polarities empower us to religionize our communities and take action toward a better world?
How can we both believe in & be skeptical of yin/yang polarities?
How did technology deviate from the Feminine mode of living — and is it now pointing us back toward that Reality?
What kinds of practices take advantage of the opponent-processing of the nervous system?
How we optimize the complementarity between Humanity and Nature?
How do we affirm the masculine principle in a world that is still awakening from its marginalization of the feminine?
And how do we regenerate Goddess work, subtle energy flow, eros and relationality in order to cultivate a sacred future in the Epoch of the Metacrisis?
You know, that kind of stuff.
THE COURSE (of course)
You have two weeks to sign up. And seating is limited because we want enough time in each session to attempt many practices… and explore how they affect each person individually.
